Description

If someone has more information then I have or can correct me on something please do. This Singer has a title from 1956 although when I am looking up the L4AD1697V number on their website it looks like it was manufactured in 1954. It looks like they say sometimes they are manufactured in one year and for whatever reason they are imported later that is why the title shows a different year then the manufacture.
I bought this car in California, it has its original California plates from 1956 and it looks like the latest sticker was from 1961 so I would guess after that it was parked. I have a clean clear title and current California plates and of course the original plates as you can see. I am guessing for many years this car was stored outside because in the rear floor board on the passenger side it is rusted through and in California the only way that can happen is if water stays in there for a long time. The frame looks excellent and no rust to speak of other then just some surface rust. The wood on the bottom from the frame looks excellent no rot and will not have to be replaced. Obviously I cant see all the wood but the wood I can see is in great shape so I would hope the rest is also.
There was a bunch of glass in the trunk but it looks like someone was just storing it there. There is also side glass for both doors and I didnt find any pictures that showed them so maybe they are rare I have no idea. There is also a metal frame for the convertible top. The front windshield frame is there but the glass is broken. It looks as if the whole drive train is there and has never been out of the car. I dont see any rust through on the outside panels and many parts on this car are aluminum such as the doors, cowl, trunk lid, below the trunk lid. It looks to have the original wheels and tires on the car and I had tubes put in them so they would hold air so I could move it around if needed.
The number under the hood on the car is L4AD1697V and the mileage which I think should be correct is 45,766. I dont know for sure but it looks like in this model year they only had four speed cars, also this would be the high HP car. I own a restoration shop called Kevin's Klassic Cars and I would say all the original outside panels can be used you wont need to buy any. Virtually all the parts are here with the car, excep I dont see a spare tire or the top part of the jack but the rest of the jack is there. All the under side items look to be in very good condition and can be cleaned and painted and used over. Even the wood looks to be good and can be used. The only place I see that needs rust repair is the floor in the back seat on the passenger side. Once it gets blasted it may also need the floor on the drivers side replaced. It looks like the floor up front is good because it had a rubber mat on it and it looks like that was wood.
The car looks to be a darker blue and I would say it has never been painted this is original paint. The interior looks to be tan and of course that all needs to be replaced. I looked inside the trunk and I dont see any rust only broken glass. I guess finding parts for these cars is very hard but this looks to have almost all the parts with it so you wont have to hunt up much. I dont have a lift here but I am happy to look at or take any pictures you like if you are interested in the car. Thanks Kevin Manley 612-275-8722
