In 1968 James O’Donnell, a New York banker, joined forces with retired Chrysler designer Virgil Exner to revive the Stutz Motor Company that dominated racetracks and land speed records in the first part of the 20th century. The new Blackhawk was first prototyped in Italy by Ghia at the cost of over 0,000 U.S. dollars. Exner, known for his classic lines, penned a car that featured a protruding spare tire out of the trunk, side pipe style exhaust, lavish chrome work, and freestanding headlamps - a nod to the original Stutz automobiles. Based on a GM drivetrain, the completed cars featured a handmade heavy gauge steel body built by the finest Italian craftsmen. Over 1,500 man-hours would go into every car that crossed the assembly line in Italy. The final car debuted in January of 1970 in New York City. Its lavish design and well-appointed leather interior that featured 24 karat gold-plated trim attracted many notable buyers, including entertainers such as Dean Martin, Lucille Ball, Elvis Presley, and Sammy Davis Jr. Production would end in 1987 after only approximately 600 cars were assembled. Still, the iconic style and excellent construction of the Stutz Blackhawk is what welcomes the marque into many private collections around the world today! The 1975 Stutz Blackhawk Series VI featured here is finished in the stunning color combination of Wine Red Metallic over a Burgundy leather interior featuring 24-karat gold plated trim. This particular example is one of only an approximate 31 examples completed in 1975 and today presents in spectacular condition while only 64,318 miles have accrued on the odometer. The Stutz comes equipped with nearly every available option, including factory air conditioning, power sunroof, power windows, power disc brakes, cruise control, a tilt steering column featuring a gold plated Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel, and much more! These hand-built automobiles took over 1,500 man-hours to create, were produced in limited numbers, and were priced higher than a Rolls-Royce when new. However, as with all pre-owned automobiles, the condition is subjective, and we recommend that the potential buyer fly out to inspect, as well as test drive any of our vehicles before finalizing their purchase. If it is not feasible for you to personally perform an inspection, we will gladly help facilitate an inspection by an independent service center of your choice and will make delivery arrangements of the vehicle for this purpose. All vehicles are sold in “AS IS” condition. Extended warranty options are available on most vehicles. Please be advised that no verbal statements concerning any vehicle constitutes a representation or warranty of said vehicle. Our goal is to provide you with the best service and buying experience as possible. All purchases include an additional 5 processing fee which covers the processing of paperwork, pre-vehicle delivery costs, FedEx shipping fees, and a 30-day temporary registration plate so that the vehicle can be driven prior to the title transfer.
