Tier upon terraced tier of botanical designs, florals (such as cherry blossoms), geometrics, scalloped roofs, crouching temple lions, corniced with a lotus to display your object of reverence.
*Display top is level, the cornice needs
gluing at one end which is why it looks off center.
Sticker on the underside says "Jap Altar Piece 1961".
But the amount of wear with age really does suggest to me that it may be older, and perhaps the sticker dates to at time it was purchased.
Gilt has a burnished look to it, lotus cornice perhaps needs wood glue on one end, a lotus leaf broken at the tip - again, signs of antiquity.
