    Description

Meet the mysterious Minoan Snake Goddess, discovered at a Cretan archaeological site and dated ~1600 BCE, likely dating before the Greek mythology that we’re familiar with today. We don’t really know what goddess she depicts, or if she’s even a goddess, but she is sometimes associated with various cool ladies of ancient times, like Athena, Ariadne, Astarte and Ishtar. Even if we don’t know exactly what her deal is, it’s clear that she’s a woman who’s in control. Perhaps she is a witch. I mean that in the cool way, of course- witches are powerful women who use book-learning and items found in their environment to effect change around them. All the more meaningful that this Minoan Snake Goddess is a squirrel. Squirrels are prey animals and for prey animals, fear is their constant emotion. Not this prey animal, though. Snakes are well known to predators of rodents, but this rodent has no fear.
This red squirrel is handmade. So are all her clothes and her little hat. The Minoan Snake Goddess figurine replica and the copperhead snake are just for reference and are not included.
