    Description

Steam at Oakville by Allan Patterson and Dick George - Boston Mills Press
Published in 1988 by Boston Mills Press, this 265 page hardcover is in excellent condition, with the dust jacket showing some signs of use. Profusely illustrated with black-and-white steam shots.
The Book: "Known as the Oakville Subdivision, Canadian National's main line between Toronto and Hamilton was Canada's busiest railway throughout the steam era. Canadian Pacific had running rights over the line for both freight and passenger traffic and since they pooled their locomotives with both the Toronto, Hamilton & Buffalo Railway and the New York Central there was a wide variety of power used. This volume provides a complete pictorial coverage of a typical day watching trains in the last two decades of steam operation.”
The Authors: “Allan Patterson and Dick George lived in Oakville during the steam days and spent every possible opportunity photographing the passing of these trains on the Oakville Subdivision. Their joint collection of negatives is widely recognized by authors and collectors as an important pictorial record of steam railroading. Over the years they have contributed to numerous books and articles on North America’s steam operations.”
