    Description

    This is a vintage 1940's Japanese children's day
    koinobori
    (carp shaped wind sock).   It is made of a cotton fabric hand stenciled in 4 different colors.  Having been in storage most of its life all colors are still quite vivid.  It has a 18" (46 cm) wide mouth made of a bamboo hoop which sucks up the air and helps this wind sock flow out straight in a anything over a 6 mph wind.  Overall length when flowing in the wind is about 20' (6.1 meters ) by 45" (115  cm) wide.   Having been stored for over 70 years, it remains in
